The Journey of a Movement tends to be defined by clear stages.

1. The Grand Vision

A charismatic leader or coaches propose a revolutionary approach offering a cure for alienated and vulnerable people.

And so it goes. Preparations are underway to confront the system in Australia. Tensions are rising. Signs of trouble appear from within. One individual, vulnerable, anxious, the phrase ATTACKING MINDSET displayed prominently in chicken blood, has emerged into view and is removed under a blanket for a temporary assignment in county cricket.

2. Love-Bombing

Team architects offer a new start, optimism ahead, support, salvation together with shared faith in the method.

What did it represent at first? Players celebrating feeling good. Ink. Forearms. Jawlines. Confident masculinity. Admittedly, The squad will claim it’s not a real term, which is funny since it’s not recognized, what did we see?

Yet it’s clear its essence. It’s the batsman attempting a move so unconventional it’s beyond belief. It’s the excitement of the leader in ultimate mode, a demeanor suggesting: focused titan, beard made of wood, untamed style, genuinely raw you wouldn’t be surprised to look down and find him positioned at mid-off shirtless holding a fish.

It’s the batsman still being allowed speaking publicly, resembling a cheerful animal formally attired, expressing thoughts like we are actively deconstructing the orange. Indeed, the vibe, for quite a long time, was only good energy.

3. The Growth Phase

Growth phase. Unity enforced by rote learning of key phrases. These ideas may seem irrational as a test of “true belief”.

Is it just me? The reaction, the anger, the feeling of letdown post-defeat appears excessive, too much. The batting collapsed during the match, as is typical there. How will they respond?

4. Hate Bonding

Problems arise because of mistakes. Yet, mistakes are denied. It begins to thrive on hatred of the outside world.

The fact remains, approaching the upcoming game, we have now reached an intriguing moment in the journey of this approach. Victory is possible in the next Test through aggressive play. Probably, they could lose just as quickly. Should they fail it feels like we could be witnessing the death cult phase.

Prior to that, a couple of points worth saying about this. Previously, during the initial excitement, of light and heat, I wrote an article suggesting Bazball was a cult. People were very angry, which proved the point because everyone knows the best way of proving lack of cult status is if supporters respond with anger denying scrutiny of its truths.

The developments in the last few days are fascinating. It seems that hating Bazball has turned into a movement. Online outrage is widespread, critical analysts, images of frustrated followers overseas cheated out of three days of cricket, similar to timeshare owners seeking justice.

Conversely, exists the larger scene of the host’s complex more culturally hard-wired exasperation at these weirdly passive-aggressive buccaneers, stating, hey, that thing you love and have fostered and nurtured as one way of separating yourself culturally from us, it’s just a joke after all.

Here lies the truth. It’s all cults. The approach was a phenomenon because cricket is a cult. In fact, the sport in England is closed, a group, a private event, an insular community with a long history of tradition and mystery defining it. Historically, this was where influence is guarded. It’s the imperial sport of England, the original sports washers. And surprisingly, the country is a phenomenon, a structure of hidden ranks, a royal family remains.

England’s cricketers have been sealed up within this world since childhood. In trying to escape from it, to foster positivity, they are simply replicating their own experience, creating another a bubble, a limited community, but doing it this time with 15 cool guys and a leader promoting authenticity if you fit the mold.

Live where your feet are. Run towards the danger. But no matter how fast and far you run, you remain stuck.
