An individual who laced sweets with tranquilliser and gave them to children at a summer program in Leicestershire has pleaded guilty to sexual offences against two boys both between nine and ten.
The defendant was detained after eight youngsters and one adult fell ill at the facility in July.
The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, confessed to a total of 17 charges when he was present at the courthouse on Friday.
Nevertheless, he disputed a single sexual charge he was charged with, which was involving a nine-year-old boy.
The defendant was kept in jail before a subsequent court date on November 28th.
'Sweet game'
The legal representative, presenting evidence, outlined Ruben's offending to the legal proceedings.
She said his those affected were under-privileged children who were staying at a youth camp which he ran.
Ruben engaged in a "treat game" with the children, the legal counsel explained, in which he would go into the sleeping quarters when they were getting ready for bed and request they to consume candy "as fast as possible".
She stated to the judge Ruben had played this game with the young males "for many years", and youngsters had previously fallen ill the next day.
She said the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this for many years as the youngsters being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had worries in recently.
The prosecutor continued: "In the summer" his stepchild had concerns about what was going on, justifiably.
"They chose" to investigate in the man's possessions."
The legal counsel said objects including lubricant, Vaseline and syringes were located, and his stepchild notified the police about his concerns.
She said the defendant proceeded to play the "treat game" with six boys that time - Saturday 26 July - and they were all sick the following morning.
"Law enforcement" had not responded by that stage," she added.
The regulatory agency, the investigative body, had stated that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the incident.
The legal representative said the youngsters were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so the family member contacted the police a second time.
She said the defendant then played the "sweet game" in a area of five minors.
