The highly-awaited second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel arrives on the streaming platform soon, and fan speculation has been widespread.
Season 1 presents a diverse group of personalities residing in the afterlife, pits them against each other with musical numbers about their clashes, and establishes tense rivalries and emotional bonds that fuel audience devotion.
The community's expectations for the new season vary widely, but certain threads emerge over and over: Could Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Might we learn more about the binding agreement affecting Alastor the Radio Demon? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Obviously, I don't produce the show with audience demands specifically in mind," the creator commented earlier this year. "However I feel like me being a fan of my own show implies there's a lot of it just inherently. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to happen, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator says her big-picture plan is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have already been green-lit by the production companies, which finance the series.
That could imply viewers have to wait years for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how fast the new season moves, and how many of what they're anticipating happens now.
"I believe people are going to be highly satisfied," the creator notes. "We get some firsts. I think we get some incredible disclosures, some fascinating backstories, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear additional musical numbers from the previously silent cast members."
She's certainly aware of the theories and desires about season 2 — particularly in the form of fan bingo cards.
"I've seen a couple people make a prediction grid about the new season," she says. "Obviously I can't post it, but I've actually done a few items, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 launches on the streaming service on October 29.
