Defiant Wilfried Nancy insists he is not worried about the sack however Celtic fans unleash anger following loss.

Wilfried Nancy stated he did not fear losing his job, asserting, “We are extremely close to changing our fortunes,” despite edging perilously close to the chopping block with a comprehensive setback against their arch-rivals.

A Second-Half Capitulation Results in Derby Loss

The home side were ahead Rangers at half-time but a collapse after the break allowed Danny Röhl’s team to move level on points with the current Scottish Premiership champions. The French coach, who was hired in December, has now presided over six losses in his first eight matches.

“There is unity with the board,” insisted Nancy.

Asked directly about his own future, the 48-year-old said: “That’s not my focus. My focus is on finding ways to aid my players to be good on the fine details.

Supporters' Anger Outside Parkhead

Hundreds of supporters displayed their anger – aimed at the hierarchy – in their hundreds at Parkhead. Club directors would be most likely to return to the interim manager, who enjoyed a successful temporary stint before Nancy was hired, should a change be made.

“Wins and losses [that leads to pressure]. And that’s the truth for the moment. But in stating that’s how it is, that is not a sign that I am giving up. Not at all. The message is we are on the cusp, imminently close to turn things around.”

Nancy’s Persistent Belief

He remains focused on the fact his team show good levels for one half at a time. In fact, were it not for missed chances they could have been more than 1-0 up. “I saw enough other than the fact that we haven’t scored more goals,” he said. “I accept that we lost, but I have also to be balanced.

“The level we had at stages was really, really, really high. That happened. I wouldn't talk like that if it was different. Therefore, when it comes to wins, I said it's a repeating pattern. That’s why I said that we are nearly there to things turning around. Right now: details, details, details.”

“I saw many, many good things that we did, like today again. However it’s about sustaining it. My narrative would change if I didn't believe it. This is why I am convinced we’re going to be able to turn things around.”

Opposition Reaction Outlook

Rangers manager refused to contemplate a serious challenge despite what seemed like a statement victory. “We take it game by game, then we can really build up a challenge,” he said. “The faith in the group is outstanding.”
