Warning: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and introduced the initial group of characters who will split off from the central cast to undertake their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.
This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (played by the voice actor), the agile character (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that having everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the characters’ stories before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for participants who are drawn to a classically intense battle-oriented narrative style where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might appear unsuited, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose passing kicked off the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.
Casimir then paid off his obligations and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each character has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- Kattigan has experience in Timmony and advises that it is a nasty location.
- The strong character and The healer, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- However, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could help the team reach areas they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The grateful character swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are sought by the rulers that control the city for a multiple motives, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The rogue and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by the family.
This means them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in quest for Casimir.
